Stipulation and Order

At the monthly meeting scheduled for November 13, 2024, the District Council Delegate Body will vote on whether to approve a draft successor Stipulation and Order negotiated with the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York to be jointly submitted to the Court for approval and entry in United States v. District Council of New York and Vicinity of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, et al. 90 Civ. 5722 (VM)

The draft successor Stipulation and Order is significant because, among other things, it acknowledges that the District Council has established an effective and sustainable compliance structure designed to ensure that the Union is run democratically, remains free from the influence of organized criminal activity and other corrupt influences, and is solely focused on promoting the best interests of the Union and its membership. The draft recognizes that the District Council has demonstrated the ability to self-govern and, if approved by the Court, will end the requirement that its activities be overseen by a Court appointed Independent Monitor.
